I guess I am an aging hipster who believes in right & wrong. But to me ‘right’ has been dying off in society, replaced ambiguous morality. ‘Right’ is not dead. It’s on life-support, though.

Buried under the massive Kindle news is something arguably more important: Microsoft just got Samsung to pay them to use Android.
This means that two of the major Android OEMs (Samsung and HTC) now pay Microsoft to use the “free” Android OS. The third (Motorola) was just bought by Google.
Think about that for a second.

Facebook to Developers: Get to Know Every User,... →
Facebook developer George Lee threw down the guantlet at F8 today by saying that he wants each of its 800 million users to have a relationship with at least one developer and that relationship should be focused on content.
“Every single user who is on Facebook should have some relationship with some developer that creates distribution,” said Lee.

This American Life: When Patents Attack →
Listened to a small portion of the overall piece broadcast on NPR. Patents and patent trolling are a cancer on software/technology devlopment. It’s the ‘why’ behind the recent $4.5 billion purchase of Nortel patents (http://dealbook.nytimes.com/2011/07/01/apple-and-microsoft-beat-google-for-nortel-patents/).

9/1/2010 Apple Event: Steve's a Dull Boy
The overall presentation was rather dull. It could just be he was not in the zone yesterday. Steve Jobs looked healthy and has begun to fill back in to his black turtleneck and Levi’s. But Steve just wasn’t himself yesterday. Steve slipped in his presentation a few times. He referred to the iPod Touch as an iPhone at least once, if not twice. Steve even had to refer to his notes at...

Facebook: 1984
So far the reply to FB from us is “use a different browser for FB & delete all cookies after each session.” Yeah, real simple for the large majority of FB users out there! What is really being shared here is the honest question which should be asked of FB, which then requires a bit more thought and comprehension. Or to simplify: What does FB consider ‘public...

iPad Revolution
It’s not about the freakin’ camera. Hack the thing if you really need it. Its more than that. It’s more than Windows 7 and “I can make a tablet that is cheap and has many, many inputs.” It’s about a paradigm shift in how we interface with technology. Multi-Touch is not Apple’s “invention”. But they made it theirs and yours, whether you like it...

@joehewitt quits Facebook App Development
Joe Hewitt, the developer behind the popular and well thought out Facebook app for iPhone and iPod Touch has quit the app project team! (He conitnues employment with Facebook, though.)
With a simple and respectful tweet, he annouced his departure.
“Time for me to try something new. I’ve handed the Facebook iPhone app off to another engineer, and I’m onto a new project”....

And what happened afterwards. . .
stevenf:
On Saturday night, we drove up to Seattle to attend a memorial service for my wife’s grandmother. Shortly after checking into the hotel, I checked the inbox on my Android phone and found myself staring at the words “Philip Schiller”.
Needless to say, I had a minor freakout. People have questioned my sanity to raise hackles about the iPhone while simultaneously depending indirectly...

I’m furious with Apple and AT&T right now, with regard to the iPhone.
Let’s talk quickly about Google’s official client app for Google Voice. It’s not the only thing I’m mad about, but it was the final straw.

Ouch Nothing!
Sorry Mr. Arrington, but Ouch nothing! Don’t play the victim here. You slashed first, by impling that Leo had been bought by Palm to offer up a rave review of the Pre. You did not politely point out that fact. And when an attempt was made to make this clear, you sarcasticlly down played the fact.
You are an F’n Troll, Mr, Arrington. F you and your Twitter minions.
